Premier Inn required a future-proof naming and positioning framework for its next-generation bed developed with Silentnight. The challenge was to protect brand equity while allowing for evolving partnerships and future product iterations.
Insight
The bed is one of the brand’s most recognisable assets and a key driver of loyalty. To unlock commercial growth beyond the hotel environment, it needed to be formalised as a signature product with scalable architecture.
Idea
I facilitated cross-functional alignment between Brand, Commercial, Legal, Retail and the in-house studio to establish “The Premier Inn Bed™” as a masterbrand asset. Beneath it, a modular naming convention introduced “Premier Inn Mattress 2.0 made exclusively by Silentnight”, enabling future iterations without resetting brand equity. Clear partnership usage guidelines were embedded across channels to maintain consistency and protect IP.
Impact
The repositioning drove a 500% increase in mattress sales and enabled expansion of the hotel-to-home range. The architecture created a scalable commercial platform while reinforcing Premier Inn’s core comfort promise.
