Project leading the design, production and cross-functional delivery of a permanent brand installation within a live airport environment.
Issue
Premier Inn London Heathrow Terminal 4 is connected to the airport via a covered link bridge. While functional, the walkway lacked branded presence and emotional connection, missing an opportunity to shape the guest’s first and last impression.
The challenge was to create a cost-efficient, sustainable, high-impact installation that enhanced the arrival experience while meeting operational and safety requirements in a live environment.
Insight
Arrival moments influence perception. The walk from Terminal 4 to the hotel is often the guest’s first physical interaction with the brand.
Lighting and colour have a measurable impact on mood. By transforming a transitional space through natural light and brand-led colour, we could create a welcoming, immersive experience aligned to sustainability goals.
Idea
I conceived and project-managed the transformation of the link bridge into a permanent brand installation. Working with Ashleigh Signs and cross-functional stakeholders across Brand, Operations and Facilities, I led delivery from concept through to production and installation.
We introduced 34 pairs of coloured polypropylene panels aligned to the Premier Inn palette. Warm hues calm guests approaching the hotel, while cooler tones energise those heading to departures. The installation filters natural light to create a dynamic, weather-responsive spectrum.
The project required coordination across design, supplier management, structural feasibility and on-site implementation to ensure seamless delivery within a live operational environment.
Impact
The Link Bridge Experience has become a distinctive feature of the T4 hotel.
Guest feedback consistently highlights the installation as calming and welcoming, reinforcing the brand promise before arrival at reception. The project demonstrates the studio’s ability to translate brand identity into physical space through structured project leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
